Enjoy virus-resistant and reduced bloat softare with no annoying licenses or registration codes as long as your arm! Why pay over $300 for an operating system when you can get one for free or for a reasonable cost with media and support? Imagine paying $29.95 for an Operating System that loads simply with no cryptic registration codes and will run for months without rebooting, resists viruses and will run on your old 486! Lycoris Linux will do that for you. See links below.
Support the distributers of OPEN SOURCE by buying their distributions, support and documentation. They provide a valuable resource for all of us. They provide a viable option to the "one size fits all" dancing paper clip bloatware that leaves you open to a wide variety of viruses and attacks. Linux is just coming into it's own, it's not just for geeks any more! I have found that the Lycoris distribution is the easiest installation to work with for home and small office use. It's available at Fry's Electronics and on line via Walmart.com. For home use I can think of none better! Red Hat of course is the "defacto" standard for serious Linux installs and server use. Star Office is a fine product and now supported by Sun Microsystems. OpenOffice.org, GNOME and KOffice also provide excellent options for an office suite. OpenOffice will even run under windo$. No need to pay hundreds of dollars to type out your recipes or answer email! The added benefit to Open Source office suites is the reduced likeliehood of infection from macro viruses common to the richest man in the world's version of office tools, you know the one, the one with the dancing paperclip.
