unit testing |
a) Unit testing means that one and only one unit is tested. In OOSE, the unit is typically a class, block or service package |

integration testing |
b) verifies that the units are working together correctly. |
|
system testing |
c) end-user actions test the entire system |
|
regression testing |
d) done after changes were made, verifies that old functionality remains |
|
operations testing |
e) most common system test - only normal user mistakes are made, measures system reliability. |
|
full scale test |
f) most expensive test, parameters approach limit values, in the extreme known as stress testing. |
|
performance /capacity test |
g) measures the processing ability of the system. |
|
overload test |
h) tests the system to see how it handles load peaks, checks to see if a catastrophe would occur. |
|
negative test |
i) System is tested systematically and intentionally incorrectly, used for critical parts. |
|
requirements test |
j) tests that can be traced to the requirements specification. Explicitly checks requirements. |
|
ergonomics test |
k) is the interface consistent in a use case? Are the menus logical and readable? Messages visible? |
|
user documentation testing |
l) a type of ergonomic testing; tests system documentation: are manuals and system behaviors consistent? |
|
acceptance testing |
m) system is tested in its real environment by the people that ordered the system. |
|
alpha test |
n) another name for acceptance testing usually performed by those that ordered the system |
|
beta test |
o) done before the product is shipped and is a form of prerelease |
