Here's some info out of the factory service manual, section 9: bore - 3.66 inches stroke - 3.4 inches hp - 230 bhp@4600 rpm torque - 300 ft lbs @3200 rpm #1 cyl left bank, firing order 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 cylinder block - CAST IRON - closed deck design with the left bank forward. (to provide high rigidity and improved NVH an enchanced compacted graphite bedplate is bolted to the block. The block design allows coolant flow between the cylinder bores, and an internal coolant by pass to a dual poppet inlet thermostat is included in the cast aluminum front cover. cylinder head - ALUMINUM alloy cylinder head covers - die cast magnesium. connecting rod - powdered metal with cracked cap piston - aluminum (press-fit wrist pin) dual overhead camshaft - chain driven - non-free wheeling. specifically the intake valves are non free wheeling and can be easily damaged with forceful engine rotation if camshaft to crankshaft timing is incorrect. The timing drive system consist of a primary chain and two secondary timing chains. crankshaft is constructed of nodular cast iron. It is a crosshaped four throw design with eight counterweights for balancing purposes. The crankshaft is supported by five select main bearings with the number three serving as the thrust washer location. The main journals of the crankshaft are cross drilled to improve rod bearing lubrication. The number eight counterweight has provisions for crankshaft position sensor target wheel mounting. The select fit main bearing markings are located on the rear side of the target wheel. The crankshaft oil seals are one piece design. The front oil seal is retained in the timing chain cover, and the rear seal is pressed in to a bore formed by the cylinder block and the bedplate assembly. picked up a 1999 EPA mileage book. The 4.7L V8 in 1999 was rated at 15/19. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.WAGONEERS.com/ Snohomish, WA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold... jesus, don't leave life without him, please! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
