It's just a bit more than I should spend.... ;) but if I do the math honestly on setting up my J10 the way I want it it'll be a bargain, and my wife will like it more than my J10... ;) If I sold my J10 and Blazer and trailer, and maybe the WJ I could maybe afford it... ;) oh well... car payments are not something I do, so I may have to pass on this... :( john ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://wagoneers.com/fotos/fotomeister/ SAVE power, use LINUX: http://johnmeister.com/tmcp.pdf SAVE yourself: http://freegift.com SAVE fuel, use synthetics: http://AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ On Tue, 18 Nov 2008, ernest breakfield wrote: # hi John! # # a neighbor/acquaintance of mine has a 300GD with a 617.95x from a # 300SD in his; sorry i don't recall which tranny he's got, but i know the # motor swap is possible and popular. The 300GD is nice looking, quiet, solid, rides nice, handles ok, but is a bit "sluggish" and limited in forward performance... nice feel from the cabin... it is a very cool vehicle... but... the cold cruel facts are that my '94 Blazer with the 6.5L Turbo Diesel already gets 17 mpg in town, and more on the freeway, can tow an ocean liner, is quiet (or was before the 4" exhaust, need to get a quieter muffler), rides nice, has a/c, automatic, a cruise control that is amazingly accurate, and most importantly, is paid for... and it will run on WVO and/or BioDiesel... but it's not a jeep or a mercedes... and it's quite boring... and needs a stereo upgrade... ;) something tells me I should just get "over it" and keep the Blazer, put a quieter muffler on it and install the stereo I already picked up at Frys... ;) stay tuned as I try to figure out what to do with SuperDawg... first step is to get him out of the black hole known as centralia... second step will be to reassemble what parts remain... third step is to determine what engine / trans... if I keep him... if not, well, I'll just put him back to stock and make him right and put him up for sale... some how I have a feeling he'll end up with a nice Diesel engine... ;) butter for your popcorn? :) john '99 WJ 4.7L V8 '94 K1500 6.5L TD V8 '91 300D 2.5L TD I-5 '83 J10 stepside - no engine (it went missing in centralia...) The original straps did fit after they conformed to the plastic fuel tank. Now, I have these '99 xj tank straps that are nicely primed and undercoated.
