For what it's worth my '91 2.5L Turbo Diesel Mercedes 300D would have been doing well over 90mph by the time the CJ-10A hit 35... and the cj10a never hit the 55 mph speed limit... :) If I drive the CJ-10A daily it's typical cruising speed will be about 45 mph, so the rpms will be lower. my cj-10a bed and Dana 70 have to go... I'm sure they are way too heavy, and no functioning tailgate... http://wagoneers.com/FSJ/rigs/1986-CJ10A/ALL-9Dec2008.html the bumpers are 0.40 inches thick! The side wall is 0.130 or so... of course we used calipers over paint, but still... that's more than 1/4" of steel bumpers and 1/8" steel for the bed side walls... I'm wondering if I'll even be able to remove the bed by myself! :) Current thought is to build a lightweight aluminum alloy channel flat bed with my tool box from my J10 on it... tie downs for barrels (WVO) and put my barrel lift on the back... should reduce weight and allow me to move WVO around. http://wagoneers.com/fotos/2008/10-Oct-26-barrel-lift-in-action-fall-colors/ALL.html As I said, decided to part out my '80 J10, using the 3.54 axles on my cj-10 with 235's, using the 258/T18/np208 in my '83 J10 Stepside... may turn the short box into another trailer that will be lighter and sell my current '75 Longbox J10 with the hydraulic dump... BTW, found this modified cj-10 on cj-8.com: http://www.cj-8.com/index.php?option=com_zoom&Itemid=40&catid=15&PageNo= Wondering what kind of bed that is... almost looks like a cj tub... anyone know this guy? would love to hear how he got it this way.. john ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://johnmeister.com/fotomeister - Trust Jesus: http://freegift.com SAVE power, avoid viruses, use LINUX: http://johnmeister.com/tmcp.pdf SAVE fuel, use synthetics: http://AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ -o|||||o- 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee (WJ) 4.7L V8/45RFE/NV247 1994 Chevrolet Blazer (K1500) 6.5L Turbo Diesel/AT - for sale 1991 Mercedes 300D (124) 2.5L Turbo Diesel/AT (Shadowfax) 1986 CJ-10A 3.3L Diesel/AT 1983 Jeep J10 Stepside (SJ) 4.2/T-5/NP208 (Superdawg) 1980 Jeep J10 Shortbox (SJ) donor for superdawg and cj-10a - PARTING OUT 1975 Jeep J10 long bed (SJ) hydraulic dump trailer - for sale 1967 Jeep J100 (SJ)Panel 232/T-85/D20 - for sale -o|||||o- http://wagoneers.com/johns-vehicles.html ------------------------------ End of xj-digest V1 #2916 *************************
