john's 1988 Jeep Wagoneer Limited

on May 3, 2001 a young driver pulled out of a gas station and into
the side of our 1988 Jeep Wagoneer Limited while my wife was driving
up the highway at about 50 mph. The Jeep was spun around and came
to rest in the middle of the highway. Injuries were fortunately
"minor" and my wife is under the care of our chiropractor.

However, the Jeep's injuries appear terminal...

The following is a list of accessories and mechanical work done
to the Jeep that significantly enhances it's value and usefulness to
my family. It was our primary family vehicle and our only current
tow vehicle. It has received numerous upgrades and meticulous
mechanical care. It has been converted to AMSOIL Synthetic
lubricants from bumper to bumper.

The mileage shown on the odometer does not reflect it's mechanical or
physical condition. The last recorded gas mileage a couple weeks ago
indicated we were getting 17 mpg in town. All accessories worked.
The vehicle started without fail and went down the road straight
and comfortably. It needed nothing in the way of repairs. We could
count on it to go any where at any time. It was trouble free and
my wife's favorite. It will be very difficult to find another vehicle
as nice, and highly unlikely to find another that has been upgraded
as this one has. The Wagoneer Limited model is the top of the line
Jeep xj model, it was approximately a $3,000 upgrade of the
Cherokee model.

so, what is it's value?

Kelly Blue book runs from $6,345 to $7,620, while NADA comes in around $5,000. Other sites on the web show something over $5,000. None of these prices reflect the enhancements, upgrades and recent repairs.
