What kind of traction control is available for our XJ's?

This table generated after a conversation with Barney, a Technician at Reider Racing Enterprises.

Randy's Ring and Pinion service in Everett, WA is an excellent source of information as well. That's where I go to have my axles serviced. They recently overhauled the rear axle of my '99 WJ.

The little wagoneer started out with an open front axle and a Trac-Lock in the rear. however, at 160,000 miles the Trac-Lock clutches were worn out. In the interest of research, I had a Detroit locker installed in the rear, and a True-Trac in the front. Three months later understeer from the Detroit locker knocked out a tree. I decided to reinstall the Trac-Lock in the rear and keep the True-Trac in the front. Drive carefully if you have a locker... They are great on the trail, but a hazard on the street... Life is full of trade-offs, for trail use a Detroit Locker can not be beat! On the street, forget it. ARB has a great concept, but on the trail you often find yourself trying to make tight turns on hard rock, or on rain slicked roads where traction control would come in handy. I guess that what makes me lean toward the True-Trac, too bad they aren't out yet, I had to put my Trac-Lock back in.
