There is a sensor in there to tell the ECU whether the particular cyclinder is on compression or exhaust stroke and the timing is controlled by the ECU. One thing about the harmonic balancer though, this is the one that is supplied with the Mopar MPI kit and it (and the pickup sensor that bolts to the oil pan) is intended to work with the HO setup. After looking throuhg the Renix fuel injection manual that's been scanned in and posted in the stroker list technical archives, I believe that there is a difference between the Renix and Mopar pickups. I think the number of notches are different and maybe even the sensors are different types (Hall effect vs. ?). You'll want to check on this before you proceed. > >So, anyone have info on this mythical harmonic balancer for the 258? is it >for non-serpentine belts??? > It's available in either serpentine or standard belt setups. If you need the part #s, just let me know. Also, you'll need to order the pickup sensor as well. I've got that part number too. To find out about the sensors, I'd suggest posting a question to the strokers list on egroups. There's a LOT of Renix and Mopar ECU knowledge there waiting to be tapped. Later, Tom
